The AIPP Printing Press is established by the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP), in order to generate resources to support the Indigenous Peoples Human Rights Defenders Network (IPHRD Net) and those facing serious threats due to their human rights work.
The IPHRD Net is a platform for solidarity, coordination and support among indigenous human rights defenders and their organizations. This network conducts lobby and advocacy for the promotion and protection of indigenous peoples’ rights and welfare in Asia and provides legal, material and other forms of support to indigenous human rights defenders at risk. Because of the nature of human rights work, IPHRDs are common targets of human rights violations themselves, which sometimes forces them to stop working. It is for this reason that the AIPP Printing Press was established as a socio-economic venture to provide long-term support for IPHRDs at risk to continue their work.
The establishment of the Printing Press was supported by the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) of the European Union. The AIPP Printing Press promotes environment friendly printing through the use of certified recycled and ECO fiber papers, soy ink and locally produced materials.
